A
sustainable table may be built from a variety of products. It could
be created from sustainable wood, which may have been reclaimed or rediscovered.
It also may be produced from recycled materials. A table today could
have been created from aluminum cans and plastic bottles of the past.
Instead of coming from recycled material, a sustainable table could
simply be an older table given new purpose. If money spent on a used
table isn’t going towards unsustainable farming methods or harvesting
practices, then the use of that table is discouraging new resources
from being taken. It also keeps another piece of furniture out of the
landfills.
A sustainable table created from bamboo is an excellent furniture choice.
Bamboo is much more durable than the average hardwood in addition to
being a highly replenishable resource. It is actually a type of grass
and not a tree. The plant comes in a variety of colors and species,
which means there is a wide selection of color choices available.
