Sustainable
products provide for our needs without drawing more resources from the
environment than can be replenished. Some do this through the reuse
of materials which have already been taken from the environment, called
recycling. Substances which can be recycled include metal, plastic,
glass, paper, and textiles.
Other sustainable products are created from reclaimed wood. This wood
has been salvaged from a preexisting product. Another term for useable
wood is “rediscovered wood.” This describes wood which has
come from such places as landfills or rivers.
Wooden sustainable products may also come out of sustainable forestry
methods. This means that the farm or forest isn’t harvested for
more wood than can be regrown. In addition to that, it also maintains
their biodiversity and ensures the protection of local communities.
