Furniture FAQs
What is “green” furniture?
The Earth’s resources have been depleted to the point
that there aren’t a whole lot left. The concept of green furniture
explores the many ways we can reuse what has already been built, and
ways to combat deforestation when it comes to wood used for furniture
building. Examples include buying certified sustainable woods, bamboo,
vintage or second-hand furniture.
What is reclaimed wood and why has it become so popular?
Entire companies are devoted to reclaiming the disused wood
from vacant factories and other structures and reforming it into pieces
of great beauty and durability. This has become popular due to the amount
of vacant factories and structures and their long-dormant resources,
as well as due to the overall depletion of the Earth’s resources.
We’ve got to start re-using a lot more than just furniture and
aluminum cans if we want this planet to be around for our grandchildren.
What is the advantage to buying discount furniture?
Discount furniture is usually on sale because it came “irregular”
from the factory, used to be a floor-model in a retail store, or is
second-hand. The advantage to buying second hand is that it is less
expensive than brand-new furniture.
